Launching a four-year medal cycle: collect your “RIGA”

9 April 2026

One of the most anticipated new features is a unique medal collection, created in collaboration with the Latvian National Museum of Art (LNMM) and design studio “KID Design”.

Over the next four years, each medal will represent one letter from the word “RIGA”.

Medals RIGA

We decided that in the next four-year cycle, the medals will serve as another tribute to the city. Each year, participants will receive the next letter of “RIGA”, featuring an artwork curated by the LNMM. This will be an additional incentive for runners to return to Riga and, by 2030, build a collection of Latvian art within the framework of the city’s name!

For this year’s medal the selected artwork is Boriss Bērziņš piece “In Waves.”

Boriss Bērziņš was a master of form, whose art celebrates the human body in its many expressions. It perfectly aligns with the spirit of mass participation sport. After all, in a marathon, everyone runs, not just elite athletes.

Bērziņš masterpiece will appear not only on the medals for all distances, but also on the official Nike running shirts and the special Art Series shirts (made in Latvia).
