Rimi Riga Marathon Kids’ Day will bring together 10 thousand young runners

10 February 2026

Registration is now open for the popular Kids’ Day, which will kick off marathon weekend on May 16 by bringing together up to 10,000 of our youngest participants.

Young runners will have the chance to earn their Rimi Riga Marathon medals by finishing their running distances. To the delight of both children and parents, a wide range of additional activities will also be available to try out and explore – from basketball and boxing to football, volleyball, and climbing.

Participation in the Kids’ Day 200m, 400m, and “Happy Babies” distances is free of charge, while the entry fee for the “Toyota WESS Grand Sprint”, which includes official timekeeping, is €5. Parents are encouraged not to leave their children’s registration until the last minute.

Every participant will earn a Rimi Riga Marathon medal at the finish line, along with surprises prepared by our partners. On May 16, youngsters are invited to run, have fun, and take their very first steps into the world of running at the Rimi Riga Marathon – the largest running celebration in the Baltics.

We are truly proud that Kids’ Day has grown from a small event with just a few dozen young runners into a large-scale family celebration that now serves as an example not only for marathons in the Baltics, but also across Europe and worldwide.

This year, our annual running celebration will be opened by 10,000 young runners, and we are already looking forward to welcoming them at the finish line with the official Rimi Riga Marathon medals, which this year will feature the work of an artist of special significance in Latvian culture!

Kids’ Day also features the DPD Mile, starting at Latvian National Museum of Art

The Rimi Riga Marathon running festival weekend will also begin on the morning of Saturday, May 16, with the well-established DPD Mile (1,609 m), starting at 11:00 at the Latvian National Museum of Art and finishing at the Freedom Monument.

The DPD Mile preserves the legacy of the World Road Running Championships, taking place on a course where in 2023 two world records were set and world champions in the mile were crowned.
