First Medals Awarded in the Rimi Riga Marathon Half Marathon
18 May 2025On May 18, the first medals of the Rimi Riga Marathon half marathon were awarded. The overall winner in the men’s race was Ethiopian runner Abera Mamo, finishing with a time of 1:01:42, while in the women’s competition, German athlete Domenika Mayer took first place with a time of 1:09:50.

In the men’s race, Titus Kiprotich Kibet from Kenya finished second with 1:01:46, and Ezekiel Mutai from Uganda took the bronze with 1:01:53.

In the women’s competition, Germany’s Domenika Mayer took first with 1:09:50, followed by Belgium’s Hanne Verbruggen with 1:09:55, and Kenya’s Daizy Jemutai Rutto finishing third with 1:09:56.

Fastest Latvian Half Marathon Runners – Edgars Šumskis and Ieva Moļņika
Among Latvian runners, the top male finisher was Edgars Šumskis, with a time of 1:07:58, placing 6th overall. Kristaps Vējš-Āboliņš recorded the second-best Latvian time at 1:10:57, while Alfrēds Apinis was third among locals, finishing in 1:13:26.
In the women’s elite division, Ieva Moļņika represented Latvia, finishing in 1:22:21 and ranking 7th overall in the women’s competition.
