Welcome 23 751 runners from 79 countries!6 May 2023
Rimi Riga marathon is welcoming 23 751 runners to Riga, the Road Running Capital of the World, on May 6 – 7, 2023. The significant growth of the number of registered participants is an effective indication that the recreational sports is recovering after the pandemic. The growth also indicates that the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga on September 30 – October 1 featuring mass races in three distances (road mile, 5km, and 21km) should also be popular among both Latvian and international running community.
On Saturday, 5560 and 2454 runners respectively registered for the Rimi Riga Marathon Olympic Kids’ Day and the DPD Mile (also Latvian Championship in Road Mile distance).
For Sunday, May 7, there are 1498 athletes registered for the marathon distance, 3506 runners for the half marathon, 4403 for the 10 km distance, and 6205 for 5 km distance. The total number of registered participants in all distances on Saturday and Sunday reached 23 751 participants, which is significantly higher than in 2022.
Rimi Riga Marathon welcomes a significant number of foreign participants this weekend: 2704 runners from 79 countries, which is 40% (1928) more than last year.
