The anniversary medal and running shirts will be designed by famous Latvian artists Ivars and Helēna Heinrihsoni

7 February 2025

The authors of the Rimi Riga Marathon 35th anniversary medals and official Nike running shirts will be the legendary Latvian artists Ivars and Helēna Heinrihsoni.

The artist couple, by agreeing to design these important running symbols, have divided their duties: Ivars will be the author of the medal design, while Helēna will design the running shirts. Art enthusiasts will recognize their unique “handwriting,” as the medals and running shirts will feature their signature elements – horses and roses.

In the medal, the running horse will be featured. The horse is born to run, and it exists in each of us. In the marathon, I see these parallels. The horse means more than just running to me; it represents an escape from daily life and running towards something unknown.

Also Helēna Heinrihsone, in her artwork, aims to capture movement by featuring the rose in motion.

I want every rose in my oil paintings to be moving and shivering a little. The Rimi Riga Marathon office inspired me to portray roses and flowers as running, striving forward.

A new addition from the organizers this year will be two types of shirts – one is the official Nike running shirt for the event, and the other is a special shirt created for the 35th anniversary. Both shirts will be designed by Helēna Heinrihsone.

The designs created by the artists will be revealed as the marathon approaches – the new shirts will be available to try on in March, and the medals will be revealed in April.
