Registration for the Olympic Kids’ Day is now open!
7 February 2023Exactly three months before the event, the Rimi Riga Marathon opens registration for Kids’ Day, which traditionally opens the marathon weekend, and this year, thanks to the support of the Latvian Olympic Committee, has become Olympic Kids’ Day.
On May 6, the Olympic Kids’ Day at the Freedom Monument will allow even the tiniest participants and their families to experience the joy of movement. In addition to the usual free tracks — Happy Babies, 200- and 400-meter distances, and the DPD mile (1609 meters), which will be held for the second year in a row this year — the organizers will reinstate the 60-meter Sprint King and Queen distance, in which the time and definitely the fastest little sprinters will compete.
On Olympic Kids’ Day, children will also be inspired by the Latvian Olympians because it is they who will present the medals to the little boys and girls in front of the Freedom Monument!
The Rimi Riga Marathon Kids' Day has served as a source of inspiration for young runners for years. This year, we have decided to further strengthen this Rimi Riga Marathon tradition by involving Olympians in the Kids' Day event as well as financially supporting the Olympic Kids' Day event. We are sure that Kids' Day will encourage more and more Latvian families to focus on sports and physical activities!
Kārlis Lejnieks
Secretary General of the Latvian Olympic Committee
Nine years ago, together with our main partner, Rimi, we laid the foundation for Kids' Day. Back then, it was a handful of little runners with moms and dads that grew over the years into an event with more than 10,000 participants. I want to say thank you to every mom and dad who understands that children need parents to set an example and exercise together to create healthy lifestyle habits from a young age. The Olympic Kids' Day is exactly the kind of event in which the whole family can compete: first, everyone runs the DPD mile together, then runs on the small tracks of the Olympic Kids' Day or in the Sprint King and Queen (60-meter distance), the winners of which will be crowned for the first time in front of the Freedom Monument!

Director of Rimi Riga Marathon
We remind you that for the Olympic Kids’ Day and as well as for the other Rimi Riga marathon distances – 42, 21, 10, and 5 kilometers and DPD miles it is possible to register for a cheaper participation fee until February 28!
