The Rimi Riga Marathon is the biggest mass sports event in the Baltic States, gathering tens of thousands of runners from all over the world in Latvia’s capital city Riga every May. It also stands as the only marathon in the world that unites multiple World Athletics Road Race Label races – the mile, 6km, 10km, half marathon, and marathon – into a single weekend celebration of running, alongside Kids’ Day events.
The organizing team of the Rimi Riga Marathon is also proud to have hosted the inaugural World Athletics Road Running Championships Riga 2023 in the half marathon, 5 km, and road mile distances, during which three world records were set in Riga.

Thanks to Neste, we are the first national sports event in the Baltic region to not only assess our impact on the environment by calculating CO₂e emissions or footprints, but also compensate for our footprint by investing in sustainable and emission-reducing projects in Riga and Latvia. We also improve our production processes and engage in educating society on sustainability issues.
Our goal is to minimize the impact of the largest national sports event in the Baltic region on the environment, encouraging both the runner community and society, as well as event industry (and not only) companies and marathon partners to embrace a sustainable lifestyle.
