The Rimi Riga Marathon is the biggest mass sports event in the Baltic States, gathering tens of thousands of runners from all over the world in Latvia’s capital city Riga every May. It also stands as the only marathon in the world that unites multiple World Athletics Road Race Label races – the mile, 6km, 10km, half marathon, and marathon – into a single weekend celebration of running, alongside Kids’ Day events.

The organizing team of the Rimi Riga Marathon is also proud to have hosted the inaugural World Athletics Road Running Championships Riga 2023 in the half marathon, 5 km, and road mile distances, during which three world records were set in Riga.

Media accreditation

Media accreditation applications for the Rimi Riga Marathon are accepted online by filling out the application form.

Media accreditation provides access to the restricted finish area on 11. November Embankment on May 18, as well as the opportunity to request organizer approval for projects involving presence on the course with vehicles (motorized or non-motorized) or the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).

Please note that due to the high number of participants, the number of bicycles allowed on the course will be limited. The organizers will prioritize media selection based on criteria such as partnership status, previous publications, etc.

(!) Please note that presence on the course with or without a vehicle, as well as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) within the event area — including 11.

November Embankment and the Rimi Riga Marathon course — is strictly prohibited without individual approval and a written permit issued by the organizers.

Accredited media passes for access to the finish area, as well as other passes upon individual approval, can be collected on May 16 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM (after the press conference) and on May 17 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Rimi Riga Marathon EXPO, Rimi Olympic Centre, Grostonas Street 6b, at the Help Desk.

Thanks to Neste, we are the first national sports event in the Baltic region to not only assess our impact on the environment by calculating CO₂e emissions or footprints, but also compensate for our footprint by investing in sustainable and emission-reducing projects in Riga and Latvia. We also improve our production processes and engage in educating society on sustainability issues.

Our goal is to minimize the impact of the largest national sports event in the Baltic region on the environment, encouraging both the runner community and society, as well as event industry (and not only) companies and marathon partners to embrace a sustainable lifestyle.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY STORY

We all leave a footprint behind us. Even the marathon, however green and fluffy it may be, leaves a footprint.
