Check out the new course and starting times
For our 30th anniversary season we are returning to our historic start location, the Freedom Monument, where the very first Riga Marathon set off in 1991. At that time, the course wound around the Ķīšezers lake. The race did not take in the city of Riga to the extent that it does now. Over these many years, the start and finish has been held in many different locations: Daugava Stadium, Arēna Rīga, the Embankment.
The new courses will show off the city of Riga and its variety even more: runners will enjoy Brīvības Street, Jaunā Teika and Mežaparks, cross the Vanšu and Akmens bridges, and visit the romantic streets of Dzegužkalns and Āgenskalns. Half-marathon runners will join the marathon runners on the second half of the course, concentrating more on the centre of Riga and the Pārdaugava area. All distances will start at the Freedom Monument. The Kids’ Day will take place on the 11 November Embankment between 10.00 and 15.00, where all races will also finish. The Family Run will also start at the Freedom Monument.
