Have a quick look at the race from last year.
The course lies in the very centre of Riga City and all runners can enjoy the charm of the largest city in the Baltic States. The course allows all visitors to run on both sides of the Daugava River, the largest river in Latvia and with the help of three bridges - Vanšu, Akmens and Salu. Runners can enjoy some of the most beautiful spots in Riga – the Art Nouveau district, the amazing panorama of Old Riga and Pārdaugava, as well as the paved streets of the Medieval Hanseatic Old Town and wooden architecture of Ķīpsala island. Riga is rather flat without significant hills or ascents; therefore the only major challenge is crossing the bridges.
The marathon course has been measured and certified by AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. All courses are traffic-free.

Marathon Medals and Official Marathon T-Shirt
Last year the Tet Riga Marathon medal set was created by artist Artūrs Analts: "I created a medal for each distance with one unifying element: a cube. The cube structure reflects the process - systematic physical and mental work to prepare for the goal. Each cube represents one kilometer, and together they make up the medal’s shape - the distance. The medal is an optical illusion, an impossible journey, as a marathon can sometimes be. The path of this cube can be run in different ways, symbolising each runner’s uniqueness, unrelenting training process and willpower."
Last year the official Adidas Marathon t-shirt was designed by Latvian artist Maija Kurševa. There was two versions to choose from. The artist explains: "In one picture, a marathon runner has taken over the city with her power, dominating it. Meanwhile, the other drawing is an ode to Riga’s single-story wooden buildings. They often live a parallel life hidden in the courtyards of larger buildings - like a village within a village."
